Q: Does the COMPANION Lite work with my car?
A: COMPANION Lite is an aftermarket product designed specifically for any 2002 - 2006 1.8 & 2.0 Turbo Volkswagen® built cars, including: Beetle, Bora/Jetta, Golf/GTI, Passat, Audi A3, A4, S4, TT, SEAT Leon, Ibiza, SKODA Octavia, and Superb.

Q: How does the COMPANION Lite work in my car?
A: The COMPANION Lite has two options that can be set.
Setting "0" will lock the doors and activate the alarm.
Setting "1" will lock the doors, activate the alarm, roll up the windows and close the sunroof.
The way it works is, once you exit the car you manually lock the car first. When the turbo timer has turned off the motor, the COMPANION Lite will start it's operation.

Q: Where does the COMPANION Lite go in my car?
A: The COMPANION Lite module should be installed under your steering wheel column. Select your vehicle on the menu to the left for pics and installation information.

Q: How long does it take to install the COMPANION Lite?
A: Installation times will vary. Allow two hours to complete using some common tools.

Q: Can I suspend the COMPANION Lite function when I take the car for service?
A: Yes, By installing an on/off switch this will disable the COMPANION Lite. To re-enable the COMPANION Lite turn the switch to "on" It's that easy!

Q: I already have a turbo timer on my 1.8T. Why do I need the COMPANION Lite?
A: On 2002 - 2006 1.8T & 2.0T cars, when your turbo timer is idling the engine you can not lock/unlock your doors with the factory remote control or arm the factory alarm. Because the engine is running with your Turbo Timer, the factory alarm sees the engine running and does not allow the alarm brain/module to receive the remote signal in order to lock the doors and arm the alarm.

The COMPANION Lite will enable the alarm module to receive the signal allowing it to lock and arm the factory alarm.

Q: How long is the COMPANION Lite warrantied for?
A: 90 Days.

Q: Why can't I use the COMPANION Lite on my 2001 1.8T?
A: 2001 and older 1.8T's do not need the COMPANION in order to make the factory remote lock/unlock the doors while the turbo timer is idling the engine. For these vehicles, you only need to add a relay and bypass fuse #6. If you have a 2001 or older 1.8T, we recomend you check out 2001 Turbo Timer Install & Mod page. Or visit www.vwvortex.com and do a seach about this topic in order to get the wiring instructions for your car. (Some earlier 2002 model cars are equipped the #6 fuse, Always verify whether your car is equipped with fuse #6)
